Action Verbs

Why action verbs?

Action verbs add power and impact to your resume and most effectively communicate your skills, abilities, and achievements. The following examples demonstrate how using past tense action verbs and quantified achievements can improve the quality of your resume

Example:

POOR: Calming employee concerns about company changes and managing productivity
BETTER: Calmed employee concerns about company changes and maintained productivity.
BEST: Calmed employee concerns about organizational changes and increased productivity by three percent.

Example:

POOR: Appealing to target market.
BETTER: Appealed to target market by addressing concerns.
BEST: Appealed to large target market by addressing primary concerns on product availability, price, and promotion.
