What I do at the
Career Services Center: |
I am a Career Specialist within the Career Services Center . It is my role to advise students and alumni about career paths and the tools needed to begin job searching. I interact with students and alumni through drop-in counseling, appointments, and presentations. When I meet with students or alumni we address issues such as career testing, interviewing skills, job searching, and career decisions. I also teach the Career Exploration class that is designed to provide students with information about the career decision making process. |
Education: |
I am currently completing my Master's in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel. I am a Kent Alumna with a Bachelors of Science in Education, with a concentration in comprehensive social studies. |
How I got here: |
I feel very lucky to have my position. It has been a long journey getting to where I am today, but it has taught me to respect, appreciate and value my current position. I have wanted to be a teacher all of my life. After I graduated, I was offered a Directors position with a local non-profit organization. Through the close relationship of this organization and Kent State University my position quickly led to a new position as Student Activities Officer with Kent State University . I soon fell in love with working for the university, and enjoy helping college students through the college process. |
Most unusual job held: |
My very first job was picking strawberries for a strawberry patch when I was in middle school. There was a nearby strawberry patch that would hire young children to pick strawberries during harvest season. I still laugh when I drive by the old berry patch and think about all the funny times we had in the strawberry patch. |
About me: |
I have a great husband and two wonderful children, Michael and Lauren. I love spending time with my family and friends and value every moment we share. I also enjoy volunteering within my community. I have always felt a strong connection to Kent State University because I have many family and friends that are Kent State Alumni. |
